Roman Holý

Roman Holý

česká producent, zpěvák a skladatel

Roman Holý (* February 23, 1966 Sušice) is a Czech composer, singer and, above all, producer. He is the frontman and producer of the bands J.A.R. and Monkey Business and is said to be the leading promoter of funk music in the Czech Republic. He founded the group J.A.R. on 17 November 1989 with Ota Klempíř and Michael Viktorík. Before founding Monkey Business in 1999, he founded the band Sexy Dancers, with whom he released and produced the only album Butcher's On The Road in 1998. The group broke up after a brief touring period. Together with Ondřej Brousek, he recorded and produced the soundtrack to the fictional non-existent film Crushing Bliss in 2004. He has written music for several TV and feature films, including Doblba!, Experts and Damned. Together with Matěj Ruppert, he performs in the G-Point Hunters project (Tereza Černochová and DJ Maceo also perform with them). He hosted the TV show Kinobox on Czech Television. At the beginning of 1999 he founded a new band Neruda with Matej Ruppert, the singer of Monkey Business, which released its debut album Neruda on EMI. In addition, since the 1980s he has played in the band Bossanova and until now plays keyboards in the Prague band Dr. Max.
