Prince Far I

Prince Far I

Jamaican Dub Poet and Reggae Artist

Prince Far I, born Michael James Williams in 1944, was a Jamaican reggae deejay and producer known for his deep, authoritative voice and spiritually rich performances that often drew upon the themes of Rastafarianism. His career began in the 1960s when he initially worked as a bouncer at various dancehalls, where he would occasionally take the microphone. He was known for his unique "chanting" style over the versions of records he played, which set him apart from other deejays of the time.
