Paul Barnes is a classical pianist and educator known for his interpretations of contemporary music as well as traditional classical repertoire. He has collaborated with notable composers such as Philip Glass, whose works he has often performed and recorded. Barnes serves as a professor of piano at the Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and has a significant career as a concert pianist, giving recitals and concerts around the world. His discography includes several albums where he explores the synthesis of minimalist music with byzantine chant, showcasing his interest in both new music and ancient traditions. Notably, his album "The Orphée Suite for Piano" features his own transcription of Philip Glass's opera "Orphée." Barnes is also known for his educational outreach, often giving masterclasses and lectures in conjunction with his performances.
