Oxford Camerata is a chamber choir that was founded in 1984 by the conductor and musicologist Jeremy Summerly, who was a lay clerk at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, and a graduate of New College, Oxford. The ensemble specializes in Renaissance and early Baroque music but has also performed works from different periods. The Camerata's membership consists of a mix of professional singers and advanced choral scholars. They have gained international recognition for their recordings and performances, particularly of sacred choral music. The group has an extensive discography under the Naxos label, which includes music by composers such as Josquin des Prez, Guillaume de Machaut, and Thomas Tallis. Their recording of Tallis's "Spem in alium" is particularly noted for its clarity and precision. The Oxford Camerata's work has contributed significantly to the wider appreciation of early choral repertoire.
