Nicholas McGegan is a renowned British conductor, harpsichordist, and flutist, particularly noted for his work in the field of historically informed performance. Born on January 14, 1950, he has become one of the foremost Baroque and Classical period interpreters. McGegan served as the music director of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra for over three decades, from 1985 to 2020, where he helped establish the ensemble as one of the leading period performance groups. He has also been a frequent guest conductor with many of the world's other leading orchestras, including those in cities like Los Angeles, New York, and London.
