Icelandic experimental electronic group

múm is an Icelandic experimental music group whose style is characterized by soft vocals, electronic glitch beats and effects, and a variety of traditional and unconventional instruments. Formed in 1997 by original members Gunnar Örn Tynes and Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason, the band quickly became known for their unique blend of melodies and atmospheric sounds that often evoke the serene landscapes of their native Iceland. Their debut album, "Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK," was released in 2000 and received critical acclaim for its innovative approach to electronic music. Over the years, múm has seen some changes in its lineup, with founding member Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir leaving the band in 2006 but occasionally collaborating on later projects. The band has continued to produce music and tour internationally, contributing to the evolution of the post-rock and electronica genres with albums like "Finally We Are No One" (2002) and "Go Go Smear the Poison Ivy" (2007). Their work has been influential in shaping the sound of Icelandic music on the global stage.
