Grateful Dead Percussionist and World Music Innovator

Mickey Hart is an American musician and musicologist, best known as one of the drummers of the rock band the Grateful Dead. Born on September 11, 1943, Hart joined the Grateful Dead in 1967 and, along with Bill Kreutzmann, was part of the band's percussion duo known as "the Rhythm Devils." Hart's work with the Grateful Dead, which continued until the band's dissolution following Jerry Garcia's death in 1995, was pivotal in shaping the band's sound.
