McDonald & Giles

McDonald & Giles

Former King Crimson Members Progressive Rock Duo

McDonald and Giles were a short-lived British rock duo formed by Ian McDonald and Michael Giles in 1970. Both musicians were originally members of the influential progressive rock band King Crimson, contributing to the band's seminal debut album "In the Court of the Crimson King" in 1969. After departing from King Crimson, they collaborated on a single self-titled album, "McDonald and Giles," which was released in 1971. The album is known for its intricate musicianship and has since become a cult favorite among fans of progressive rock. Despite the quality of their work, McDonald and Giles did not continue as a duo beyond this project. Ian McDonald went on to co-found the rock band Foreigner, while Michael Giles focused on session work and other musical endeavors. Their brief partnership remains a notable footnote in the history of progressive rock, showcasing their talents outside of the King Crimson context.
