Avant-Garde Composer and Inventor of Experimental Instruments

Born June 16, 1925 in Detroit; died April 11, 2000 in New York. A Polish-American composer, musician, choreographer and builder of instruments. She spent most of her career in New York after studying composition with a.o. Edgar Varèse. She wrote also a number of pieces for instruments of her own construction, including the timbre piano: a variety of prepared piano.
