Kitchens of Distinction, often abbreviated as KOD, is a British alternative rock band formed in the 1980s by singer/bassist Patrick Fitzgerald, guitarist Julian Swales, and drummer Dan Goodwin. They are known for their lush, atmospheric sound that combines elements of dream pop and shoegaze with introspective lyrics. The band first gained attention with their debut album "Love Is Hell" in 1989, which showcased their distinctive style. They continued to build their reputation with subsequent releases such as "Strange Free World" in 1991 and "The Death of Cool" in 1992, both of which received critical acclaim for their expansive sonic landscapes and poetic songwriting.
