Johann Georg Reutter

Austrian Baroque Composer and Conductor

Johann Georg Reutter (1708–1772) was an Austrian composer who served as a prominent musician and Kapellmeister in Vienna during the 18th century. He was born in Hainburg and later moved to Vienna, where he became a student of Johann Joseph Fux, the esteemed composer and music theorist. Reutter is known for his significant contributions to the music of the Viennese court, where he held the position of Kapellmeister at St. Stephen's Cathedral. Over his career, he composed a wide range of music, including masses, oratorios, operas, and other sacred works.
