Jo Jo Gunne

Jo Jo Gunne

70s American Rock Band

Jo Jo Gunne was a rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1971 by Jay Ferguson and Mark Andes after they left the group Spirit. The band's name was taken from a Chuck Berry song called "Jo Jo Gunne." Alongside Ferguson (vocals and keyboards) and Andes (bass), the original lineup included Matt Andes (guitar) and Curly Smith (drums). They quickly established themselves with their self-titled debut album released in 1972, which included the hit single "Run Run Run." Jo Jo Gunne was known for their energetic blend of rock, boogie-woogie, and blues influences. Although they never achieved the same level of success as their debut, they continued to record and perform throughout the early to mid-1970s, releasing several more albums before disbanding. Their subsequent albums include "Bite Down Hard" (1973), "Jumpin' the Gunne" (1973), and "So...Where's the Show?" (1974). Despite a brief reunion in the late '80s, Jo Jo Gunne remains a lesser-known act from the era that nonetheless contributed to the rock landscape of the early 1970s.
