German Conductor and Musicologist

Helmut Koch was a German conductor known for his work in the classical music genre, particularly with Baroque and early music. Born on November 13, 1908, in Wiesbaden, Germany, he became an influential figure in the German music scene. Throughout his career, Koch held various positions including serving as the General Music Director of the Komische Oper Berlin. He was also a founder of the Berlin Chamber Orchestra (Kammerorchester Berlin) in 1952, which he led until his death in 1975.
