Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst

Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst

19th-Century Virtuoso Violinist and Composer

Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst (1812–1865) was a Moravian-Jewish violinist, violist, and composer during the 19th century. He is often regarded as one of the greatest violinists of his time, after Paganini, whose style and technical prowess he sought to emulate. Ernst was a contemporary and acquaintance of many famous composers and performers of his day, including Chopin, Liszt, and Berlioz.
