Harold Gomberg

Harold Gomberg was a prominent American oboist known for his long tenure as the principal oboist of the New York Philharmonic. Born on November 30, 1916, in Malden, Massachusetts, he came from a family with strong musical roots; his brother Ralph was also an accomplished oboist. Harold Gomberg studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and later joined the Philadelphia Orchestra before moving to the New York Philharmonic in 1943.
