Graham Johnson

Graham Johnson is a renowned British pianist and Lieder accompanist, highly respected for his collaborative work with vocalists in the performance of art songs. Born in 1950 in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), Johnson studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and later became a founding member of The Songmakers' Almanac, an ensemble dedicated to exploring the wider repertoire of song. He is particularly noted for his comprehensive recordings of the complete songs of Franz Schubert, undertaken with the label Hyperion Records. This monumental project, known as The Hyperion Schubert Edition, features a variety of distinguished singers and has been critically acclaimed for its depth and scholarship.
