Georg Böhm

Baroque German Composer and Organist

Georg Böhm (1661–1733) was a German Baroque composer, organist, and harpsichordist. He is best known for his works for the organ, which include a variety of preludes, fugues, and chorale partitas. Böhm served as the organist at the St. Johannis Church in Lüneburg from 1698 until his death. His compositions were influential in the North German organ tradition and are noted for their inventive counterpoint and use of ornamentation.
