Classical German Composer and Conductor

Friedrich Witt (1770–1836) was a German composer and cellist who was active during the classical and early romantic periods. He is best known for his "Jena" Symphony in C Major, which was once mistakenly attributed to Ludwig van Beethoven. Witt was a contemporary of Beethoven and was influenced by the works of Haydn and Mozart. Throughout his career, he composed a variety of works including symphonies, chamber music, choral works, and concertos.
