Pioneering American Hardcore Punk Band

Deep Wound was an influential American hardcore punk band formed in 1982 in Westfield, Massachusetts. The band consisted of J Mascis on drums, Lou Barlow on bass and vocals, Scott Helland on guitar, and Charlie Nakajima on vocals. Deep Wound is often recognized for their fast-paced and intense style, which helped to shape the hardcore punk scene in the early 1980s. Although their career was short-lived, with the band disbanding in 1984, they managed to make a significant impact with their self-titled EP "Deep Wound," which was released in 1983. After the breakup of Deep Wound, members J Mascis and Lou Barlow went on to form the alternative rock band Dinosaur Jr., which gained considerable success and furthered their influence on the music scene.
