Daniel Ash

British Post-Punk and Gothic Rock Musician

Daniel Ash is an English musician, songwriter, and singer, best known for his work with the influential gothic rock bands Bauhaus, Tones on Tail, and Love and Rockets. Born on July 31, 1957, in Northampton, England, Ash became a prominent figure in the post-punk scene of the late 1970s and 1980s. With Bauhaus, he contributed to the creation of the gothic rock genre, with their debut single "Bela Lugosi's Dead" becoming an iconic track. After Bauhaus disbanded in 1983, Ash formed Tones on Tail with Bauhaus drummer Kevin Haskins. Later, he reunited with former Bauhaus bandmates Kevin Haskins and David J to form Love and Rockets, which achieved commercial success in the United States with singles like "So Alive."
