Country Joe McDonald

Country Joe McDonald

Vietnam War Era Protest Singer and Woodstock Performer

Country Joe McDonald is an American musician who is best known as the lead singer of the 1960s psychedelic rock group Country Joe & the Fish. Born on January 1, 1942, in Washington, D.C., McDonald became a prominent figure in the counterculture movement of the 1960s. His music often contained anti-war themes, most famously the song "I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-to-Die Rag," which became an anthem for the anti-Vietnam War movement. After his time with Country Joe & the Fish, McDonald pursued a solo career and released several albums throughout the 1970s and beyond.
