Chavez

Chavez is an American rock band formed in New York City in 1993. The band is known for their distinctive style, which blends elements of math rock, indie rock, and post-hardcore. The lineup consists of guitarist and vocalist Matt Sweeney, guitarist Clay Tarver, bassist Scott Marshall, and drummer James Lo. Chavez gained critical acclaim with their debut album "Gone Glimmering," released in 1995 through Matador Records. The album showcased the band's intricate guitar work and complex song structures, earning them a dedicated following within the indie rock scene. Despite their initial success and the release of a follow-up album "Ride the Fader" in 1996, Chavez never achieved widespread commercial success. The band went on hiatus in the late 1990s but has since reunited for occasional live performances. Their influence can be heard in the work of later bands that have cited Chavez as an inspiration for their own music.
