Vratislav Brabenec is a Czech musician, composer, and poet, best known as a member of the avant-garde rock band The Plastic People of the Universe. His primary instrument is the saxophone, and he has been influential in the underground music scene in Czechoslovakia, particularly during the 1970s and 1980s. The Plastic People of the Universe were known for their non-conformist and experimental music, which played a significant role in the cultural opposition against the communist regime in Czechoslovakia. Brabenec's work with the band contributed to the broader movement that eventually led to the Velvet Revolution in 1989.
