Black Box Recorder

Black Box Recorder

British indie pop trio

Black Box Recorder was a British indie pop group that formed in 1998. The band consisted of Sarah Nixey as the vocalist, with John Moore and Luke Haines providing instrumentation and songwriting. They were known for their darkly satirical lyrics and sleek, melodic sound. Black Box Recorder released their debut album "England Made Me" in 1998 to critical acclaim, which set the tone for their subsequent work. Their music often explored themes of English suburban malaise and the darker side of domestic life. The band followed up with two more albums, "The Facts of Life" in 2000, which spawned a hit single of the same name, and "Passionoia" in 2003. Despite never achieving massive commercial success, Black Box Recorder garnered a dedicated fan base and were respected for their sharp wit and stylish aesthetic. After "Passionoia," the band went on an extended hiatus, with members focusing on solo projects before officially disbanding in 2010.
