BBC Welsh Symphony Orchestra

Welsh Symphony Orchestra

The BBC Welsh Symphony Orchestra, known since 1993 as the BBC National Orchestra of Wales (BBC NOW), is a Welsh symphony orchestra and one of the five professional orchestras maintained by the British Broadcasting Corporation. Founded in April 1928, it has played a central role in the musical life of Wales for over 90 years. The orchestra is based at Hoddinott Hall in Cardiff Bay, where it rehearses and records a large part of its work for BBC Radio 3. The BBC NOW performs a wide range of repertoire, from Baroque to contemporary music, and has gained recognition for its performances and recordings of British music, including works by Welsh composers.
