Bad Books is an American indie rock band formed in 2010 as a collaboration between Kevin Devine and members of the band Manchester Orchestra, including frontman Andy Hull. The group merges the lyrical storytelling and folk-influenced sensibilities of Devine with the more robust, rock-oriented sound of Manchester Orchestra. Bad Books released their self-titled debut album "Bad Books" in 2010, which was followed by "II" in 2012. Their music is characterized by a blend of both artists' styles, resulting in melodic indie rock with introspective lyrics. The band's third album, "III," was released in 2019 and marked a departure from their previous sound, featuring a more stripped-down and acoustic-driven approach. Bad Books has been well-received for their collaborative energy and the seamless integration of both Devine's and Hull's distinct musical identities.
