Iconic R&B/Soul Songwriting and Performing Duo

Ashford & Simpson were a husband-and-wife songwriting-production team and recording duo comprised of Nickolas Ashford (May 4, 1941 – August 22, 2011) and Valerie Simpson (born August 26, 1946). They met in New York City in 1964 and began their career together writing for other artists, most notably for Motown where they penned classics such as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "You're All I Need To Get By," and "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)." Their work significantly shaped the sound of R&B and soul music during the 1960s and 1970s.
