Arlo Guthrie

Arlo Guthrie

Folk Music Icon and Singer-Songwriter

Arlo Guthrie is an American folk singer-songwriter, known for his storytelling and singing style, which often includes humorous and satirical elements. Born on July 10, 1947, he is the son of Woody Guthrie, one of America's most revered folk musicians. Arlo gained fame in the late 1960s with the release of "Alice's Restaurant Massacree," a satirical talking blues song that became the title track of his debut album "Alice's Restaurant" in 1967. The song's popularity turned it into a counter-culture anthem and inspired a 1969 movie of the same name, in which Arlo played himself.
