AfroCubism

AfroCubism

Transnational Afro-Cuban Fusion Ensemble

AfroCubism was a collaborative project that brought together musicians from Mali and Cuba. The group was conceived in the late 1990s by World Circuit Records' Nick Gold, who initially had the idea to bring Cuban musicians together with Malian guitarist Ali Farka Touré. However, due to logistical issues, that collaboration never took place as planned, and instead led to the creation of the acclaimed Buena Vista Social Club album, which focused on Cuban music.
