The album was recorded at Miraval Studios in Correns, France and was produced by Voïvod and Pierre Rémillard. The album was mixed by Colin Richardson at Slane Castle in Ireland. The album was not as well received as the band's previous album Angel Rat and was seen as a return to the band's thrash metal roots. The album was the last to feature guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour, who died of colon cancer on August 26, 2005.
