Víkingur Ólafsson, who was born in Iceland in 1984, has long been a respected musical figure in his homeland and has been voted "Musician of the Year" four times. His debut album on Deutsche Grammophon, "Piano Works", is one of Ólafsson's many creative projects and a promising start to his collaboration with the label. On the occasion of composer Philip Glass' 80th birthday, Ólafsson presents a selection of his solo piano etudes. "Music is a place that is as real as any place you've ever been," said Philip Glass.
