Product Information "Calm Before the Storm" is the fifth album by black metal pioneers Venom. Originally released in 1987, the album features a "cleaner", more synthetic sound compared to Venom's previous albums, perhaps due to the addition of guitarist and producer Nick Tauber, who had previously worked with hard rock bands such as UFO and Thin Lizzy. The band moved away from the old-school sound of Venom in favor of a more upbeat, traditional and simplistic thrash metal approach. Gone were the pentagrams, inverted crosses and satanic lyrics. This is one of the most atmospheric albums Venom have ever made.
