The expanded cult album "Astral Weeks" is the second solo album from Northern Irish musician Van Morrison, which the former lead singer of Them used to further his solo career after the band's break-up. The eight songs were recorded in just two days in September and October 1968 at Century Sound Studios in New York City. Van Morrison was accompanied by guitarist Jay Berliner, bassist Richard Davis, percussionist Warren Smith and drummer Connie Kay. This was the first album the singer produced for the Warner Brothers label. "Astral Weeks" is a blend of folk, blues and jazz. It is not one of Van Morrison's most successful albums, but it has gained cult status among his fans to this day. A new edition of the album was released in 2015, for which all eight songs were completely remastered. The expanded version of the album also includes four additional tracks that have not yet been released. These include a long version of "Ballarina", a vibraphone version of "Madame George", an unabridged version of "Slim Slow Slider" and the first version of "Beside You". "Astral Weeks" is a real treat for Van Morrison fans. An iconic album in new sound quality with previously unheard recordings of the legendary musician in an expanded edition. Review.
