While 1967's "Velvet Underground & Nico" was part of Andy Warhol's global artistic vision, 1968's "White Light / White Heat" was free of all Warholian influences, so in a way it could be considered another debut album. Here the music was left to rot on its own, with no artistic visionary stepping in and trying to create a soundtrack to his pop art, and the Velvets filled that void with an album that is the sound of a subway car full of drunks, junkies and whores hurtling through the bowels of New York City with a one-way ticket to oblivion. Special ltd. edition on clear purple vinyl.
