Jednou z jejich prvních nahrávek byla 23minutová píseň A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules from the Centre of the Ultraworld, která The Orb okamžitě proslavila a učinila z nich ikony britského rave hnutí. Tento opus se vyznačoval hravým, rockovým pojetím elektronické hudby a připravil půdu pro kapely jako The Prodigy a Chemical Brothers.
