Time Out is an album by the Dave Brubeck Quartet released in 1959. It is considered one of the most important and influential jazz albums ever recorded and is one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time. The album includes the quartet's signature track "Take Five", which is the best-selling jazz single of all time. The album was recorded in one day, August 5, 1959. The quartet consisted of Dave Brubeck on piano, Paul Desmond on alto saxophone, Eugene Wright on bass and Joe Morello on drums. The album was produced by Teo Macero. The album was a commercial and critical success and is cited as a major influence on jazz and other musical genres. In 2003, the album was ranked #13 on Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
