Pianist Dave Brubeck, born in 1920, is an American jazz legend. In the early 1950s, he formed the Dave Brubeck Quartet in California, with which he soon became an insider tip of the jazz scene in the Sunshine State. In 1961, Brubeck managed to reach the heights of the pop charts with "Take Five," a song composed by his saxophonist. This song, played in 5/4 time, was the first jazz recording to sell more than a million copies. "Take Five" comes from the album "Time Out", released in 1959, with which Brubeck introduced one of the definitive milestones of jazz. Product Information "Time Out" is a 1959 album by The Dave Brubeck Quartet, based on the use of time signatures unusual for jazz (primarily waltz or two-mallet time, but also 9/8 and most famously 5/4).Although the album was intended as an experiment and met with negative reviews from critics upon its release, it has become one of the best-known and best-selling jazz albums ever! Timing is of course important! More than 50 years after its original release, we present this timeless album on 180-gram audiophile vinyl.
