"Never Mind the Bollocks" by the Sex Pistols was released in October that year, "The Clash" in April. Released on the Stiff label and produced by Nick Lowe, the band around singer Dave Vanian, guitarist Brian James, bassist Captain Sensible and drummer Rat Scabies won critical acclaim for its energetic, classy and rebellious satire of the pop business. With the singles "New Rose" and "Neat, Neat, Neat" they also created two classics of the punk rock genre.
