The album is based on the autobiographical book, The Heroin Diaries, by Nikki Sixx, bassist of Mötley Crüe, A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star. The album was produced by Sixx and DJ Ashba and features collaborations with artists such as Dave Navarro, Scott Weiland and Mick Mars.
