The legendary "New Gold Dream" remastered in 2016 More than 30 years ago, Scottish rock band Simple Minds' fifth studio album, "New Gold Dream", was a milestone in the band's career in many ways. Most notably, it was the first album with which the band managed to conquer the Top 10. In addition, Jim Kerr and co. introduced their new sound on it, which did not go completely unnoticed by the album's producer Peter Walsh. With more effects and overdubs, "New Gold Dream" veers even more towards pop than its predecessors. Plus, it's the first album without their longtime drummer Brian McGee. He left the band a year earlier and was replaced by three drummers on "New Gold Dream": Kenny Hyslop, Mike Olgetree and Mel Gaynor. Gaynor is still a member of Simple Minds. Now, in 2016, the band presents a remastered version of the album, personally signed by guitarist Charlie Burchill. Mastering was handled by Andrew Walter at Abbey Road studios in London. For those who want to get to the bottom of this legendary album, a box set "New Gold Dream (Remaster 2016)" will be released simultaneously with "New Gold Dream: Super Deluxe" with a total of five CDs and a DVD. The legendary fifth album from the Scottish new wave icons in a new sound: "New Gold Dream (Remaster 2016)".
