In 2005 Simple Minds announced that they were working on a new album, Graffiti Soul, in Rome, Sicily, Antwerp and Glasgow. The band returned for the first time in nearly three decades to Rockfield Studios near Monmouth, Wales, where they had originally recorded their previous albums Real to Real Cacophony, Empires And Dance and New Gold Dream. On its release in May 2009, the album reached number 10 on the UK Albums Chart. Two bonus tracks include a version of Neil Young's Rockin In The Free World.
