Simon & Garfunkel were the most successful pop duo of the 1960s - and although they parted ways in 1970, their LPs continued to sell millions of copies in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. These two - just 16 years old - got together as a musical duo back in 1957 and performed under the name Tom & Jerry. Initially, they still focused on rock'n'roll, but in the early '60s they created their own folk-pop blend, which they introduced on the 1964 album "Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M.". A worldwide breakthrough came with "The Sound Of Silence" in the fall of 1965. Other albums followed: 'Sounds Of Silence', 'Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme', 'The Graduate' and 'Bookends' topped the charts with great regularity. In 1970, the duo finally released their absolute masterpiece: 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' became the best-selling album of the 1970s and collected a total of six Grammy Awards. After their separation, the two performed together from time to time, but rather than try something new, they preferred to stay true to their old hits. The "Greatest Hits" CD contains all the great Simon & Garfunkel hits, including "Bridge Over Troubled Water," "Mrs. Robinson," "I Am A Rock," "The Boxer," "Scarborough Fair," "El Condor Pasa" and many more - all anthems of a generation.
