After 23 years since their last studio album, Sacred Reich return loudly with an excellent new work. On Awakening, they seemingly effortlessly prove that they are still a metal authority. The record offers everything fans have come to expect from the band from Phoenix, Arizona, USA, and is a timeless collection of energetic thrash tracks, crushing grooves, killer solos and socially critical lyrics that show a deep understanding of what's going on in the world right now. The return of Dave McClain, who drummed from 1991-1997, and the addition of guitarist Joey Radziwill alongside original six-string guitarist Wiley Arnett was extremely important to the album. Formed in 1985 and an integral part of the 80s and 90s thrash scene, Sacred Reich recorded at Platinum Underground studios in Mesa, Arizona under the guidance of producer Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Cavalera Conspiracy) and engineer John Aquilino. They released four albums before breaking up in 2000. Six years later they reunited, but only for concerts, and in 2012 they released the DVD Live At Wacken. It wasn't until 2018 that they started working on new material.
