Ramones : Rocket to Russia is the third studio album by American punk rock band The Ramones , released on November 4, 1977 by Sire Records. The album was produced by Tommy Erdelyi. After the release of the band's second album Leave Home, bassist Dee Dee Ramone was arrested for heroin possession and spent time in a treatment facility. He was replaced by Marky Ramone. The album's title track was written about the band's tour of Russia in July 1977. The song "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" was released as a single and became the group's first Top 40 hit in the United States. In 2005, the album received a gold certificate from the Recording Industry Association of America. The album Rocket to Russia is cited as one of the best punk rock albums of all time. In 2003, the album was ranked 167th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
