Produkoval ho RZA a objevuje se na něm Ghostface Killah, v hostujících rolích se zde objevují všichni členové Wu-Tang Clanu. Mezi nimi je i rapper Nas, jehož vystoupení je prvním případem, kdy se na albu Wu-Tang Clanu objevil rapper, který s ním není příbuzný nebo pokrevně spřízněný. V průběhu let kritici album opakovaně chválili - někteří dokonce zašli tak daleko, že "Only Built..." označili za jedno z nejlepších hiphopových alb všech dob. Díky příběhům o americké mafii a organizovaném zločinu je album považováno také za zakladatele subžánru "mafiánský rap". Jen v USA se alba prodalo 1,1 milionu kopií.
