"The Infamous" is the second studio album by hip hop duo MOBB DEEP, originally released in 1995. It features guest appearances by NAS and WU-TANG members RAEKWON and GHOSTFACE KILLAH. The album marked MOBB DEEP's transition from a relatively unknown rap duo to an influential and commercially successful group. "The Infamous", one of the landmarks of the New York hardcore movement, is MOBB DEEP's masterpiece, a relentlessly minimalist song cycle that fans consider one of the most genuinely gangster albums of all time. It's hard underground hip hop with its own rules and few melodic hooks as an approach for the listener. At the same time, MOBB DEEP don't provide much comfort in the form of the street imagery they conjure up here. They inhabit a theatre of war, where violence and paranoia lurk around every corner. The result of an unusual artistic vision, "The Infamous" is an absolute gangsta/hardcore classic. New York hip-hop duo Mobb Deep achieved sensational platinum success in the US with their LPs "The Infamous", "Hell On Earth" and "Murda Muzik".
