Na prvním z pěti alb, které produkoval výhradně Kanye West ve Wyomingu, se k samotnému Kanyemu ("What Would Meek Do?") přidává jako host Rick Ross ("Hard Piano").

Již na počátku devadesátých let slavil PUSHA-T se svým bratrem Malicem první úspěchy na hiphopové scéně jako rapové duo Clipse a až do roku 2009 vydal několik úspěšných alb.

Jako sólový umělec podepsal smlouvu s vydavatelstvím Kanyeho Westa "G. O.O. D. Music" a v témže roce se podílel na jeho platinovém hitu "Runaway".

Rapper z Virginie popisuje album jako výsledek hudebních terapeutických sezení a upřesňuje: "'DAYTONA' znamená, že si užívám luxusu mít čas." Na albu se objevují i další skladby, které se mu podařilo natočit.
