Parade is the soundtrack to the film "Under the Cherry Moon", which is set on the French Riviera. Riviera, and that's what the whole album sounds like. It was released in 1986 and features French chanson ("Do U Lie"), slow waltzes ("Under The Cherry Moon"), classy bar music ("Venus de Milo"), anthems ("Christopher Tracy's Parade"), pop songs (e.g. "Anotherloverholenyahead") and of course plenty of funk ("New Position", "Girls & Boys", "Mountains" and last but not least the album's big hit: "Kiss"). A shimmering and partly strangely beautiful album, quite different from the discs before and after it. The album is definitely one of Prince's masterpieces he produced in the eighties, and simply belongs in every collection.
