The album's lead single, "The World Tonight", reached number four on the UK singles chart. The second single from the album, "Young Boy", charted at number nine on the UK Singles Chart. The album's title track, "Flaming Pie", was written about McCartney's late father Jim. The song was inspired by a dream in which McCartney's father came to him and said, "It's all right, Paul. It's okay." The lyrics reflect McCartney's feelings of guilt over his father's death. The third single from the album, "Beautiful Night", reached number thirteen in the UK singles chart.
