Diary of a Madman, released on October 12, 1981, was the third solo album by Ozzy Osbourne.The album was produced by Osbourne and Randy Rhoads and was recorded at the Record Plant in Los Angeles. The album reached number six on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album's title track was released as a single in October 1981 and charted at number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. The second single from the album, "Flying High Again", was released in February 1982 and reached No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 1982, the single reached number one on the Billboard charts. The album Diary of a Madman was praised by music critics. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic called the album "an outstanding hard rock record" and noted that "Osbourne is in top form on it". Diary of a Madman was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Heavy Metal Performance in 1983.
